Mobile closes the gap between bricks and clicks

Oct,8,2012
by: Gary Elphick
When we take a look at how communications platforms have evolved, we have often been led to believe that bigger is better. But when we look at the reasons why those platforms have evolved, it points plainly at what is next and for retailers, at least, I am not convinced that bigger is necessarily better. In fact, I would argue the opposite. Print brought us a means to communicate with people. We wrote to them once a day in the hope that they would buy our things and then later tried to attribute sales to this.

The deal will increase T-Mobile USA’s subscriber base by about 28%, giving it a total customer base of about 42.5 million. Apple slams the door on third-party app discovery services

Oct, 02, 2012
by: Jason Ankeny
Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) has revamped its iOS developer guidelines to restrict third-party app discovery and promotion, a move that could have a significant impact on app recommendation services such as FreeAppADay, AppShopper and others. TechCrunch reports Apple has revised clause 2.25 of its iOS developer guidelines to read "Apps that display Apps other than your own for purchase or promotion in a manner similar to or confusing with the App Store will be rejected." Many developers rely on in-app promotional services to help drive users to their apps and improve their App Store rankings, and startups offering these kinds of marketing platforms have emerged as a thriving segment within the larger iOS ecosystem.

Who wins the apps versus mobile sites debate?

Oct,1,2012
By: Rimma Kats
There is a continuous debate in the mobile industry on whether mobile applications or optimized sites are a better choice for marketers. Companies looking to invest in the space should first set a goal and have a clear understanding of their target consumer. Many industry experts believe that while mobile applications are great, they are mostly used by loyal users. Losing Likes on Your Page? Don’t Worry, It’s Just Facebook Cleaning House

Sept,30,2012
by: Josh Wolford
Facebook is cracking down on something they deem harmful to the integrity of their site, and your fans may be in danger. You may have experienced a small dip in the total likes on your Facebook page in the last couple of days and yes, it does mean that people are fleeing your page. Why have you suddenly become so unpopular? You haven’t really – the fans fleeing from your page aren’t actually real fans. How to Create a Social Media Command Center For Your Next Sale, Launch or Event

Sept, 30, 2012
by: John Jantsch
As more and more people adopt social media tools and get used to Tweeting, Liking and Checking In, smart marketers are employing a raft of tactics to get them to do more and more of just that. One of the most important reasons to promote and incentivize sharing on social networks is that it can multiply your message and carry just a hint of referral, albeit it very faint one. Even small, local businesses can take a clue from large organizations, like Dell and national events like the MLB All-Star Game to create a “command center” approach to promoting a concentrated happening such as a new product launch, new store opening or seasonal sale.
