Success on Twitter can be measured in a variety of ways, depending on your goals. If your goals are to increase awareness, buzz, and feedback, then you should be paying a lot of attention to your follower and interaction count, as well as what people are saying about you. If your goals are more focused around driving traffic to your website or blog, you should also pay attention to the click-through rates on the links you Tweet. However, in order to start out, your first priority should be polishing your profile, gaining a voice, and building a community.
Let’s get started.
The Bio:
In order to gain followers, you must first find a way to describe your small business in a short and compelling way. You have 160 characters for your Twitter Bio, and within those few lines there must be a good reason for people to follow you. You can choose to have your business’ catch phrase or motto, or you can choose to be witty. Whatever the case, you should think of your Twitter bio as a 160-character elevator pitch. Here are some pointers:

Small Businesses Are Benefiting From Google+ Presence

Feb,27,2013
by:+Ekaterina Walter
In November 2011, Google+ unveiled "Brand Pages," enabling brands and businesses to use the social networking platform. Since Google is one of the world's favorite Internet brands, its foray into social media has been snapped up by business owners eager to improve their SEO and keep up to date with social media trends.

But is Google+ really worthwhile? What does it offer for businesses over the other social networking giants? These female entrepreneurs spoke up about how Google+ is working for their businesses.

Brittney Bogues, CEO of All In PR, a digital PR firm geared toward pro athletes and non-profits, finds Google+ essential for her business. For her, it's the way the platform integrates with other Google tools that makes it so much more than just a social networking site.
"It helps with managing our calendars, internal and external networking, and keeping us updated with current events. This allows us to add real-time content to our client's digital accounts as well as our own."

Microsoft vows Windows Phone 8 will be upgradeable

Feb,28,2013
by:+Jason Ankeny
Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) pledged Windows Phone 8 smartphone owners will be able to update their devices to future versions of the mobile operating system, avoiding the fate that befell previous Windows Phone users.

"We're going to have an upgrade path going forward," Microsoft Senior Marketing Manager Greg Sullivan told PCMag.com.

Microsoft released Windows Phone 8 in late 2012. Because features and applications optimized for Windows Phone 8 smartphones are not backwards-compatible with devices running Windows Phone 7.5 and below, Microsoft built Windows Phone 7.8, a stopgap OS release that brings WP8-like experiences to older handsets. Windows Phone 7.8 began rolling out last month.

Hello Businesses Owner,

I am writing to you because our changing health care system will have a profound effect on all of us. Now that the election is over and the Supreme Court has ruled, the Affordable Care Act (ACA) is not going away. It will not be repealed and it is up to us to make sure it will work for small businesses and individuals as it was intended to do.

That’s why I joined the Campaign for Better Health Care’s newly created Small Business Health Care Consortium (SBHCC). This consortium views the needs of small businesses and their employees as a top priority.

And, as a member of the Steering Committee of the SBHCC I am personally inviting you to join our network of small businesses who know that only through our collective voices that will assure that the Affordable Care Act live up to its goal of making healthcare affordable for all.

Discussions around health reform have been confusing and, sometimes, even misleading. It is the goal of the SBHCC to provide factual information about the changes that are already happening and those coming in the near future. The SBHCC discusses the benefits and opportunities of the ACA and what Illinois small businesses need to do to make sure this law will benefit them.

Many key components of the ACA are national in nature. For instance, small businesses currently providing health insurance to their employees could be eligible for a 35% tax credit. And, while employers with fewer than 50 full time employees are not required to provide health insurance, their employees can take advantage of the ACA’s benefits.

Other components will be implemented at the State level and these decisions will either enhance small businesses or provide another hurdle. One important component is that all states must implement a health insurance exchange (marketplace). These exchanges will include a rate review process with defined, easy to understand plans to consider and review side-by-side.

As small business owners we share many of the same, serious business challenges. It is my hope that you and your small business peers do want to learn more about the ACA. Let’s take this opportunity to act collectively to get control of health insurance costs and improve access to coverage. The opportunity to create positive change is now. It is about fairness and choices for small businesses. To that end I like for you to hear my own personal story about how the new healthcare law will effect me.
